Lost in all the hoop-lah surrounding the much-anticipated rematch of the Flyers and New York Rangers tonight in South Philadelphia, is that the United States will be gaining itself another citizen during tonight’s first intermission.
Clement joins three of his former “Broad Street Bully” teammates in Bob Kelly, Dave Schultz, and Orest Kindrachuk in becoming an American citizen. All three of those men will be on hand tonight to oversee Clement’s citizenship become official.
When asked about his excitement level for the event, Clement said,
“I’ve been practicing the pledge all week. I have always known it, but now it has a new meaning to me.”
Pretty cool stuff here and on behalf of all American Flyers fans, I extend the welcome to our soon-to-be fellow countryman in Bill Clement.
